FBI Omission Leads to Not Guilty Verdict

C.R. was indicted for allegedly knowingly and intentionally conspiring, confederating and having an agreement with another to travel in interstate commerce in order to engage in a sexual act with a minor from Louisiana to California.

We proceeded to trial on the exploitation and interstate travel charges.

The alleged person who was going to do this with him pleaded guilty and testified against us at trial. Even so, evidence was presented to the jury that the FBI had failed to include exculpatory statements in a controlled email exchange and the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.
