What Is Reckless Endangerment?

Reckless endangerment is a crime that happens when someone's actions put another person in danger of serious bodily injury, but the person isn't intentionally causing harm to another person. It's often charged when someone operates a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Driving recklessly or shooting a gun into a crowd are both examples of reckless endangerment.

The Classifications of Reckless Endangerment in CT

There are four classifications of reckless endangerment in Connecticut:

A Class C Felony is punishable by a term of imprisonment of one to ten years and/or a fine of up to $10,000

A Class D Felony is punishable by a term of imprisonment of one to five years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

A Class A Misdemeanor carries a potential sentence of up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,000.

A Class B Misdemeanor is punishable by a term of imprisonment of not more than six months and/or a fine of not more than $1,000.
